 About me

As a retired Navy meteorologist/oceanographer I have always had a love for nature.  I think the beating of the waves at the Jersey shore and the occasional thunderstorm over Barnegat Bay in my youth lead me to the career I chose.  My Navy life enabled me to travel to exotic places like the South Pole, north of the Arctic Circle, the Taj Mahal, and to many other places around the world….and yes, I always had a camera (I still have my first film camera).  After retiring from the Navy my wife and I settled on the Mississippi gulf coast in Pass Christian.  One autumn evening we went to the beach to watch the sunset.  While there a gent approached us and asked if we would like him to take our picture – I handed him my camera and he said the first thing he was going to do was to take it “off auto”……that moment changed my life!  After delving more deeply in to the art of photography I have become even more fascinated with the science and technology behind it and am developing a new appreciation for nature and mankind.    I hope as you look at my work that you too will be motivated to begin, or improve upon your work but I will warn you – it is an endless learning process!
